Hey everyone; hoping to establish some connections in-game by signing up and posting here, since as much as I have been enjoying the game, it does get lonely by yourself.
I started roughly a fortnight ago and have to admit my expectations for the game were not too high, but I severely underestimated how great it is. I did find it quite difficult to start with (especially Factions), but a bit of research (well, alot) soon eased the strain.
Difficulty is not an issue though, and I do like GW's take on it: forcing the player to improve themselves to meet the difficulty rather than lowering the difficulty to meet the player. I only have one issue with the game, which I will admit right away is unfair considering the little experience I've had with it thus far, but it is the community. It has only been a handful of experiences but everyone I have met has been surprisingly hostile to me as a new player; for using henchmen, for wearing bad armour, for not skipping cinematics, for being new, etc (all things which a new player typically does) - which has made me cautious about approaching people in-game. I just don't do it. However, as I said, as much as I'm enjoying the game, it'd be even better to chat and make friends whilst playing - so, hi.
I hope that didn't sound ranty, and I hope people don't take any offence for my thoughts on the community (as stated, I haven't had enough experience with the community to make a more established point - and I'm positive there's plenty of great people out there).
My character's name is Aristotelian Philo, I'm a student in England, I'm nerdy and like books, I'm not actually boring. That's about it. Thanks for reading.

Hello All,
Purchased the 3 pack online in September, only 2 characters so far. No EotN yet but maybe after I get some lvl 20's right? I am learning the build system and I play using my PS3 joystick. That seems to work best for me.
The guild I made was mainly to keep people from bugging me about joining theirs. I don't really know if I plan to advance the guild or not. After you get asked a few times and realized that it is costing them just to invite me, I made the guild to stop people until I am ready to join or build a guild.
I have played WoW and found it mildly entertaining but somewhat limited. I really hope to find more to do than just PvP. I get sick of everyone wanting to kill, kill, kill and not enjoy the quest. So the fact that GW separated the players during questing is a pretty good idea. I don't have to be on my guard looking out for ninja looters and assassins.
My highest level character is a N/Mo level 14 at present, her name is Red Death Witch. I hang out in the International District because I like the low traffic in there. Even though I am a lone wolf you are always welcome to toss a hello at me but I am not an online chatter. I will be happy to talk in the forums more.

Hello. I am a total newbie in this game and I really enjoy it so far. I enjoy hunting more than doing quests, but I do both so it doesn't get boring. Also, I like to talk so feel free to add me in game, my character's name is the same as here: Count Oc.

Hi,
My name is a Rhine... My GW account has been around since release (or shortly there after) and I haven't played in 4 or so years.
I was very much into PVP back in the day and was in a top 10 Guild at the time, but I started college and that free time went away. I'm now graduated and have been looking to get back into this wonderful game.
I was just wondering is there is anywhere I can find a comprehensive guide for non-noobs on what has changed? I'm assuming the game is radically different than when I left (I logged in today and found my old E/Me Ele Spike build I used in PVP and it brought back some wonderful memories).
I'm going to peruse around here as I haven't been back here in years and I hope to find some interesting posts.

Supp guys?
just returned to the game, so its been a year now, left a lot behind, 4 years of GW memories. anyway wanted to post here to reintro myself, I feel like when I return back into the game next week, all my friends will consider me unknown. anyway i'm a keen pve and pvp player, based on asian timezone due to work, initially i'm from europe (Portugal/England). see where this all goes. good to see a lot of new people joining the forum. I know for sure that this is the best place to be, helped me loads back in the day, was really insightful. hope to see you all in game sooner or later.

Hehe I didn't see this sticky before.
Hello everyone!
I've been back to GW for about a month now, after leaving it behind for several years (some time around the release of Nightfall). I've owned all four GW chapters since their year of release but haven't completed EoTN yet. I've been lured back due to a combination of GW2 talk in another forum I'm active in, a IEEE Potentials article about MMORPG, and being bored of single player games.
This forum has a lot of information that's helped me re-adjust so far, and it looks like the community here does a great job keeping the threads in check which makes it even better. So far it's been helpful to get me started with hard mode.

Hi all.
I am new to this forum, but not really new to Guild Wars-- well, let me qualify that by saying, I've been playing since the very beginning, but off and on. And it is only *just now* that I have been really kicking butt and picking up titles. I beat the Tyrian campaign last year (I know, took me a while. I got bored around Ice Caves of Sorrow), and beat the Cantha campaign.. last weekend. I'm right near the end of the Eye of the North (I think it's the battle against the Great Destroyer) and what really spurred me on was 1) special items like spectacles and such.. well, some of them look stupid, but I had to have those dragon gloves.. and 2) the idea of collecting stuff for my hall of Monuments and titles. I've pre-ordered GW2.
I don't know why it motivates me, but man, it totally does. I am just about to complete my elite luxon armor (still have to farm some more jadeite out of the Jade Quarry), but here I am wearing one of my prized outfits: Asuran armor with dragon gauntlets and spectacles.
Tigara is my 2nd character in the game, and has celebrated every birthday since 2006. Here's what she used to look like. Back when she was just a kid, (haha).
Here she is after just having reached Kryta. I was so amazed at how pretty tropical Kryta was compared to Seared Ascalon and the bitter cold of the Shiverpeaks so I took a screenshot.
This is the longest I've ever kept a single character as an avatar.

Hello ! Not my first post, but thought I'd say hi.
My name is Katie, I've been playing for a bit more than 5 years now. I want a pony. My main is a ele, and I change the way she looks and her armor too often. Irl I do some commissions for digital drawings, and photo retouches. I really want a pony. :P Cant think of anything else right now. I've got most of the stuff I wanted in the way of HoM points and titles, so Im playing mostly to talk to my friends and help others out. I still want that pony.

Hey all, on the site now figuring out which to buy - can't wait to dive into this game, it seems huge.
Quick question:
I am not on a budget, should I just go ahead and buy Trilogy + Eye of the North all at once? Or should I buy Eye of the North after I finish Trilogy?
The whole "chapters" thing has me confused.

Each chapter is a separate story. They're also essentially stand alone games, in as much as you don't have to have them all and you can play any chapter from start to finish without ever leaving that chapter.
EoTN is essentially an expansion pack, but it's well worth it.
My advice is to just buy trilogy and EoTN. As a new player, it may also be useful to buy the PvP unlock pack from the ingame store, since this unlocks these skills for your heroes (basically customizable npc henchmen/sidekicks) too.

Hello...
Just stopping by to say hi. I've been playing now for only about a month, but am enjoying myself a great deal. Having lurked here for most of that time, I decided to finally post my "hello" in these forums.
